2. Nomi: is it close to Kindroid?

Yes, on memory. Nomi has layered memory with a Mind Map view and a cheaper entry plan. Its adult rules are less clear, because they appear only in its App Store listing.

Strengths. Short, medium and long-term memory, and a Mind Map that shows what the companion has learned. Media includes selfies, image art, AI video, voice messages and hands-free voice calls, plus group chats. Free chat needs no card. It runs on web, iOS and Android, with an API.

Weaknesses. Adult content is stated only in the App Store listing, which rates the app 18+ and lists sexual content or nudity with in-app controls. The terms do not set adult rules. They only ban planning harm to others. NSFW selfies may fail. The privacy policy refers to training archives, so training use is unclear. Payments are non-refundable except at Nomi’s discretion. Age is the age given at sign-up. Trustpilot shows 2.3 out of 5 from 42 reviews, per third-party sources.

Price. The Launch plan is $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year on the App Store. Standard is $15.99 a month, $39.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year. Credits start at 40 for $4.99.

3. OurDream: who should pick it for media?

OurDream puts chat, images, video and voice calls into one plan at a low yearly price. Memory is not documented, media uses coins fast, and its own pages say user data may be used to train AI models.

Strengths. One plan covers in-chat images, image and video generation, voiced narration and voice calls. Its safety site bans minors, real people, bestiality, gore, self-harm and non-consent where the user acts. It allows fictional non-consent where the user is the target. Where the law requires it, for example in the UK and Australia, it uses Go.cam or AgeVerif for an ID or face check. It says it does not sell chats.

Weaknesses. The homepage says companions remember past chats, but no limits are documented. It is web only. Chats go to third-party model providers. The companion privacy summary does not state training use, but OurDream’s privacy page, as recorded in our OurDream video research, says user data may be used to train AI models. No refund after 25% use, no monthly refund once coins are used and no crypto refunds. Its Trustpilot profile was removed for a guideline breach, per third-party sources.

Price. $9.99 a month billed yearly ($119.88) or $19.99 monthly. OurDream’s homepage FAQ says both plans include 1,000 dreamcoins each month. Its help center says subscribers receive 1,000 dreamcoins on their billing anniversary and that dreamcoins do not refresh monthly. Ask support how this applies to the yearly plan before you budget around it. Calls cost 50 coins a minute and 5 seconds of video costs 100. So a 1,000-coin grant covers about 20 minutes of calls, or 50 seconds of video.

Joi AI has a large character library, including licensed creator characters, and a third-party age check. Explicit messages cost extra, and prices are not published.

Strengths. VerifyMyAge checks age by email, facial age estimation or government ID, depending on region. You can build characters with look, personality, behavior and kinks. Media covers photos and videos in chat and generation. The terms allow explicit content and ban CSAM, NCII and sexual content of real people without consent. Trustpilot shows 3.9 out of 5 from 263 reviews, per third-party sources.

Weaknesses. Explicit messages cost 4 Neurons each, photos up to 120 and videos up to 1,900. Voice and training use are not published. Memory has no documented limits. Chargebacks may lead to disclosure of chats. Refunds apply only to fraud or a one-time error.

Price. Not published. Premium is billed monthly to yearly, Neurons are extra and prices vary by region.

5. Secrets AI: how clear are its data rules?

Secrets AI has clear deletion rules and explicit-content rules in its terms. Its chats may train models, and its prices are behind a login.

Strengths. Chats are deleted with the account, and call audio is deleted after transcription. The terms allow nudity and sexual activity and ban minors, non-consent, extreme violence, revenge porn and impersonation. Media covers images, videos, reels and audio calls. Trustpilot shows 4.5 out of 5 from 282 reviews, the highest here, per third-party sources.

Weaknesses. Chats may train AI models. Age is self-attested, and regions that require verification are excluded. Users cannot upload images. Payments and Moments purchases are final, except an EU and UK 14-day right on a first purchase.

Price. Third-party sources report $109.99 a year (about $9.17 a month) billed yearly and $19.99 for Premium monthly, with media paid in Moments.

Candy.ai has one of the lowest yearly prices and a detailed builder. The token grant is small, and chats may train models.
