How we compared

We compared six alternatives to OurDream on the nine dimensions of our companions desk: customization, memory, photos and voice and calls, content rules, credits and tokens, privacy and training, age verification, cancellation and refunds, and user reports. We also compared starting price, free tier and platforms. The table above shows every fact side by side. Each price and limit links to the vendor page it came from, with the date we read it.

Every fact comes from the apps’ own pricing pages, terms, privacy policies, help articles and App Store listings. We read OurDream’s and Candy AI’s pages again on 27 October 2026. The facts for the other five apps are from our checks on 23 and 24 October 2026, as their check logs show. Prices that appear only behind a login come from third-party sources and are marked. Where an app does not publish a fact, we say so.

For this report we weighed the dimensions by the reasons people give for leaving OurDream. Real cost comes first, because OurDream’s plan meters every image, call and second of video in dreamcoins. Memory comes next, because OurDream does not document it. Apps, written rules, privacy and refunds follow.

Why do people look for an OurDream alternative?

OurDream puts chat, images, video and voice calls in one plan. It costs $9.99 a month billed yearly ($119.88), or $19.99 a month. Both plans include unlimited chat. OurDream’s homepage FAQ says both plans include 1,000 dreamcoins each month. Its help center says subscribers receive 1,000 dreamcoins on their billing anniversary and that dreamcoins do not refresh monthly. Ask support how this applies to the yearly plan before you budget around it. Five limits push users to look elsewhere.

Coins run out fast. The help center lists the prices: 50 coins a minute for voice calls, 10 coins for 2 images and 100 coins per 5 seconds of video. A 1,000-coin grant covers 20 minutes of calls or 50 seconds of silent video. Audio adds 20 coins a second.

Memory is not documented. The homepage says companions remember past chats, but we found no published limits or controls.

Web only. We found no native iOS or Android app.

Training and refunds. OurDream’s privacy page said user data may train AI models when we read it on 23 October 2026. There is no refund once more than 25% of a purchase is used, none on a monthly plan once its coins are used, and none for crypto.

A thin free tier. Free users pay 1 dreamcoin per chat message, and OurDream’s pages do not say how many coins a free account gets.

The six apps below each fix some of these limits.

Kindroid: why is it our pick?

Kindroid is our pick because it fixes OurDream’s two biggest gaps, memory and apps, and it adds live video calls, which OurDream does not have.

What it does well. Memory is the most documented of any app we compared: backstory, key memories, long-term memory, journals of up to 500 entries and cascaded memory for subscribers. Companions send photo and video selfies and voice messages, and you can make live voice and video calls. The moderation guidelines allow NSFW and erotic roleplay. Chat is unlimited. It runs on web, iOS and Android and has an API. Payment on file counts as age verification, and flagged free users verify with a Yoti selfie or a government ID.

Where it falls short. Its App Store yearly plan, $159.99, costs more than OurDream’s $119.88, although its $15.99 monthly price is lower than OurDream’s $19.99. The 3-day trial needs a payment method and converts to a paid plan. Refunds are case-by-case, and the docs say sales are generally final. Selfie and audio credits cost extra above the monthly grant. Training use of chats is not published. On Trustpilot, Kindroid has 2.6 out of 5 from 20 reviews, a third-party figure.

Price. $15.99 a month on the App Store, $42.99 for 3 months or $159.99 a year. The web price is usually lower.

Who it suits. Users who want a companion that remembers them and talks by voice and video.

Nomi: the lower-cost pick

Nomi has memory close to Kindroid’s at about half OurDream’s yearly price.

What it does well. Memory works on short, medium and long-term levels, with a Mind Map view of what the companion has learned. Companions send selfies, image art, AI video and voice messages, and you can make hands-free voice calls. Free chat needs no card. Native iOS and Android apps and an API are available.

Where it falls short. Its adult rules are written only in the App Store listing. The privacy policy refers to training archives. Payments are not refundable except at Nomi’s discretion. Videos and requests above the daily limits cost Nomi Credits, from 40 credits for $4.99.

Price. The Launch Plan costs $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year on the App Store. Standard costs $15.99 a month, $39.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year.

Who it suits. Users who want strong memory and a free start at a lower yearly cost.

Candy AI: the lowest yearly price

Candy AI costs less than half of OurDream’s yearly plan and has the most detailed character builder on our desk. Our Candy AI vs OurDream report compares the two in detail.

What it does well. The yearly plan costs $47.88, or $3.99 a month, with unlimited chat. The builder sets ethnicity, age range, eyes, hair, body, personality, voice and hobbies. It sends images, voice messages and short videos, and has voice calls in beta. Its refund rule is short and written: 24 hours, card payments, 20 tokens or fewer used.

Where it falls short. It includes only 100 tokens a month, or 330 on Premium Plus, and does not publish the token cost of any action. The privacy notice lists training AI models as a purpose. The age check is a self-declaration. It is web only, like OurDream.

Price. $47.88 a year, $26.97 for 3 months, or $9.99 for the first month and then $13.99 a month.

Who it suits. Users who mainly want to chat and design a character, at the lowest yearly price.

Joi AI: the largest character library

Joi AI has a large library of creator-made characters and a third-party age check.

What it does well. Users can create characters with a set look, personality and behavior, or chat with licensed creator characters. Photos and videos come in chat, and the app also generates images and video. Age is checked through VerifyMyAge by email check, facial age estimation or government ID, depending on region. On Trustpilot, Joi AI has 3.9 out of 5 from 263 reviews, a third-party figure.

Where it falls short. Explicit messages cost extra: 4 Neurons each, with photos up to 120 Neurons and videos up to 1,900. Plan prices are not published. Voice features are not documented. The terms say chats may be disclosed in a chargeback dispute.

Price. Not published. Premium is billed monthly to yearly, and Neurons are sold separately.

Who it suits. Users who want creator-made characters and accept pay-per-message costs.

Secrets AI: clear data rules

Secrets AI has the clearest data-deletion rules of the six and the highest third-party user rating.

What it does well. Chats are deleted when you delete your account, and call audio is deleted after transcription. The terms allow explicit adult content. It makes AI images, videos and reels and supports audio calls. On Trustpilot, it has 4.5 out of 5 from 282 reviews, a third-party figure.

Where it falls short. The privacy policy says chats may train AI models. The age check is a self-attestation. Official prices are behind a login. Payments and Moments purchases are final, apart from a 14-day right on the first purchase in the EU and UK. It is web only.

Price. $109.99 a year (about $9.17 a month) billed yearly, and Premium at $19.99 a month, according to third-party sources.

Who it suits. Users who value clear deletion rules and story-led videos.

DreamGF: a cheap first month

DreamGF has a low first payment and a published token list, but the price rises sharply on renewal.

What it does well. The builder mixes face, body and clothing options. Companions send real-time photos, voice messages and short videos, and you can make voice calls. The token list is public: 100 tokens a month, with an image at 10 tokens and a voice call at 7 a minute. A free account gets a daily bonus of 10 to 50 messages.

Where it falls short. The monthly plan costs $12.99 for the first month and then $25.98. There are no refunds after any use, and a promotion can lock cancellation for 30 days. Memory is not documented. The age check is a self-confirmation.

Price. $12.99 for the first month, then $25.98 a month. The yearly plan costs $44.28 for the first year, then $88.56.

Who it suits. Users who want a low first payment and will check the renewal date.

How do the alternatives compare with OurDream?

Each alternative beats OurDream on some dimensions, and OurDream keeps the lead on published media prices.

• Customization. Candy AI has the most detailed builder. Kindroid adds voice and backstory, and DreamGF mixes face, body and clothing.
• Memory. Kindroid and Nomi document their memory systems. Candy AI lists 20 memory slots on Premium Plus. OurDream, Joi AI and DreamGF do not document limits.
• Photos, voice and calls. Kindroid is the only app here with live video calls. OurDream is the only one that prices video by length, at 100 coins per 5 seconds, up to 60 seconds.
• Content rules. OurDream’s prohibited content policy is the most detailed. Kindroid, Joi AI, Secrets AI, Candy AI and DreamGF also publish written rules. Nomi’s adult rules sit only in its App Store listing.
• Credits and tokens. OurDream lists 1,000 coins a month on its homepage and publishes a price for every action. Candy AI and DreamGF include 100 tokens a month, and only DreamGF publishes its prices. Joi AI charges per explicit message.
• Privacy and training. OurDream, Candy AI and Secrets AI say data may train models. Kindroid, Joi AI and DreamGF do not publish their training use.
• Age verification. OurDream, Kindroid and Joi AI use real checks in some or all cases. Candy AI, Secrets AI and DreamGF rely on self-confirmation.
• Cancellation and refunds. All seven limit refunds. Candy AI has a written 24-hour window, OurDream a 25% usage limit, and DreamGF refunds nothing after any use.

What if you mainly want video?

OurDream is one of the few companion apps that prices video by length. If video is the main reason you use it, a video tool may suit you better than another companion app. Our Video desk’s top pick is Nureta. Which one should you choose?

Choose Kindroid if you want the best companion and can pay $159.99 a year, $40.11 more than OurDream’s yearly plan; its monthly price, $15.99, is $4.00 lower than OurDream’s. It has the most documented memory, live voice and video calls, written NSFW rules and apps on every platform, from $15.99 a month on the App Store or $159.99 a year.

Choose Nomi if you want memory close to Kindroid’s at a lower price: free chat with no card and $59.99 a year on the Launch yearly plan. Choose Candy AI if you mostly chat and want the lowest yearly price, $47.88. Choose Joi AI for creator-made characters, and Secrets AI for clear deletion rules. DreamGF suits users who want a cheap first month and will budget for the higher renewal price.
