Janitor AI Pricing (2026): janitor+ Cost and Free Tier

Janitor AI is free with about 9K context; janitor+ costs $12.99 a month or $99 a year ($8.25 a month). What it adds, refunds, payment and cheaper options.

Quick answer

Janitor AI is free to use, with no published message cap and about 9K tokens of context. The optional janitor+ subscription costs $12.99 a month or $99 a year, which is $8.25 a month, and gives 5x the free context and priority replies. Most readers should start free; janitor+ yearly is the cheapest way to get long memory on our Text desk's top pick. Checked to .

  • Paying yearly saves $56.88 against 12 monthly payments.

What does Janitor AI cost?

JanitorAI is free. There is one optional subscription, janitor+, on two billing terms. There are no token packs, credits or per-message charges on its public pages.

PlanPricePer monthContextReplies when busyExtras
Free$0$0About 9K tokensStandard queueUnlimited chats, standard models
janitor+ monthly$12.99 a month$12.995x freePriorityMonthly swipes with the best models, golden name, react emojis
janitor+ yearly$99 a year$8.255x freePrioritySame as monthly

The janitor+ page notes that usage limits apply. JanitorAI does not publish what those limits are, or how many monthly swipes with the best models you get, so we mark both “Not stated”.

What does the free tier include?

The subscription FAQ lists three things for free users:

  • Unlimited chats with millions of community bots
  • Access to the standard chat models, including JanitorAI’s own JLLM
  • A context limit of around 9K tokens

The FAQ lists no message cap and says the free option “will always remain available”. That is unusual on our Text desk, where most free tiers have a daily cap, a waiting line or a much shorter context.

The free tier also supports bring-your-own API proxies, such as OpenRouter. JanitorAI does not charge for a proxy, but the model provider does. Its prices are set by the provider, not by JanitorAI, so we cannot give a single figure.

What does janitor+ add?

The FAQ says janitor+ gives “everything you currently have in our free tier”, plus:

  • 5x more context. About 9K tokens on free becomes about 45k on janitor+, by our arithmetic (5 × 9k). Context decides how much of a long roleplay the character still remembers.
  • Priority access. Faster replies when the site is busy. Our tool page records about 3x faster replies under load.
  • Monthly swipes with the best models. Swipes are alternative replies. The count is not stated.
  • A golden username and checkmark, and comment react emojis.

janitor+ does not unlock images, voice or video. JanitorAI is text-only.

Is 5x context worth $8.25 a month?

Context is the part of the conversation the model can see when it writes its next reply. Everything older than that drops out, unless you save it in the bot’s memory notes. A token is roughly three quarters of an English word, so about 9K tokens is roughly 6,700 words, and about 45K tokens is roughly 34,000 words. Both conversions are our approximation, not JanitorAI’s figures.

In practice, that means:

  • About 9k (free). Enough for the bot’s character card, your persona and a medium-length scene. In a long story, early events fall out of view and the character starts to forget names and plot points.
  • About 45k (janitor+). Room for a long story arc and a detailed character card at the same time. The character keeps track of far more of what happened.

JanitorAI’s chat memory article explains how to pin key facts in the chat memory field. That is free, and it fixes most forgetting in short and medium roleplays. If you still lose the thread after using it, janitor+ is the fix, and $8.25 a month on yearly billing is the lowest price for that much context on our Text desk.

janitor+ is not worth it if your problem is reply quality or a bot’s writing style. Context does not change the model’s style, and the number of swipes with the best models is not stated.

What does a realistic month cost?

Because there are no per-action charges, a month on JanitorAI costs either nothing or the subscription price. Our arithmetic for four readers:

Casual chat. Free: $0 a month. About 9K context is enough for most short and medium roleplays.

Long roleplay, paid monthly. janitor+: $12.99 a month.

Long roleplay, paid yearly. $99 ÷ 12 = $8.25 a month.

Your own model through a proxy. JanitorAI: $0. Your provider bill depends on the model and how much you write. JanitorAI does not publish provider prices.

Compare that with a site that sells context by tier. On SpicyChat, 8K context costs $19.95 a month. On JanitorAI, about 9k is free, and about 45k costs $8.25 a month on yearly billing.

Monthly or yearly: what does a year cost?

  • Monthly. 12 × $12.99 = $155.88.
  • Yearly. One payment of $99.

Yearly saves $56.88, or 36%. Since the free tier is generous and refunds are not offered, start free, try one month of janitor+ if the context matters to you, and only then switch to yearly.

How does Janitor AI’s price compare?

Here is what the sites on our Text desk charge, from their own pricing pages. Context is in tokens.

On price per token of context, janitor+ yearly is the best paid deal in this table. CrushOn and SpicyChat have lower entry prices, but much shorter context.

How can you keep the cost down?

Pin memories before you pay. The free chat memory field holds the facts you want the character to keep. Try it for a week before buying context.

Subscribe on the web. Web subscriptions run through Stripe and can be cancelled in Settings. App Store and Google Play subscriptions can be cancelled only in the store, and their prices are not stated on the janitor+ page.

Buy one month first. At $12.99, one month tells you whether 5x context changes your chats. Refunds are generally not offered, so a $99 yearly plan you stop using is money lost.

Set a reminder. Your subscription renews until you cancel. Cancelling keeps janitor+ to the end of the period, so you can cancel the day you subscribe and still use the whole month.

Refunds, cancellation and payment

Refunds. The FAQ says subscriptions are “generally non-refundable”, except where the terms of service or applicable law require otherwise. For a billing problem, the address is billing@janitorai.com.

Cancelling on the web. Go to Settings, then Billing, then Manage Subscription. You are sent to Stripe, where you can cancel at any time.

Cancelling in the apps. Subscriptions bought on iOS or Android are managed by the App Store or Google Play. They cannot be cancelled from the website.

After cancelling. janitor+ stays active to the end of the current billing period. Then the account goes back to the free tier.

Payment methods. Web payments are handled by Stripe, and JanitorAI says it does not store card details. The FAQ does not list which methods Stripe accepts, so we mark them “Not stated”. In the apps, you pay through the App Store or Google Play. App prices are not stated on the janitor+ page.

Mobile note. Our tool page records that adult content is off by default in the mobile app. Check the setting before you pay through an app store.

Cheaper alternatives

JanitorAI is already the top pick on our Text desk and one of the cheapest, since its free tier covers most readers. These options can cost even less, or give something janitor+ does not. The full field is in our best NSFW AI chat and roleplay sites report, with more detail in our Janitor AI alternatives report.

  • SillyTavern: free and private. Free, open-source software you run yourself. With a local model, all text stays on your computer. You do the setup.
  • CrushOn.AI: lowest yearly price. Standard costs $58.88 a year ($4.90 a month) with 16K memory, $40.12 less than janitor+ yearly. Chats are used to train its models.
  • SpicyChat: images and voice. Get A Taste costs $60 a year but keeps 4K context. Conversation Images start at $19.95 a month. See JanitorAI vs SpicyChat.
  • NovelAI: writing with encryption. Tablet costs $10 a month, with unlimited text and end-to-end encrypted stories.

How we compared

We read JanitorAI’s janitor+ page, its subscription FAQ, its chat memory article, its mobile-app FAQs and its terms, last checked on 25 October 2026. Prices are in US dollars. The janitor+ prices also appear on our JanitorAI tool page, which cites the janitor+ page.

All yearly and per-month totals, and the 45K context figure, are our own arithmetic from published numbers, and each shows its working. Where JanitorAI does not publish a figure, such as the swipe count, usage limits, app-store prices or accepted card types, we say “Not stated”. We compared JanitorAI against the other sites on our Text desk using their own published prices. The full process is on our methodology page.

Which one should you choose?

Stay free if your chats are short or medium. About 9K context with no published message cap is the best free deal on our Text desk.

Buy janitor+ yearly ($99, or $8.25 a month) if you run long roleplays and the character keeps forgetting. Try one month at $12.99 first, because refunds are generally not offered.

Use a proxy if you already pay for a model provider and want a specific model. It costs nothing on JanitorAI’s side.

Choose SillyTavern if privacy matters more than convenience, and CrushOn.AI if you want the lowest yearly bill and accept training on your chats.
