Spicy API vs ElevenLabs (2026): Adult Voice APIs Compared

Building an adult voice app? Spicy API permits adult audio explicitly. ElevenLabs has more voices and lower latency. Rules, privacy and price compared.

Quick answer

Spicy API is our pick for adult voice apps: it permits adult audio in writing, never trains on your data, and its text-to-speech starts at $0.30 per 10,000 characters on a prepaid balance, with live calls at about 1 to 1.5 cents a minute. ElevenLabs wins on voice range, latency and languages, with a free tier of 10k credits a month and plans from $6 a month, but its policy does not say adult audio is allowed. Checked .

How we compared

We compared Spicy API and ElevenLabs on the eight voice dimensions from our full ranking of adult AI voice tools: product type, voices and expression, live calls, content rules, voice cloning and consent, privacy and retention, age verification, and user reports. We also compared price and free tiers. The table above shows each value side by side.

All facts come from each company’s own pricing, terms, privacy and documentation pages, plus Trustpilot for user reports. We did not build an app on either service. This page compares what each company states in writing. Where a fact is not published, we say so. Our methodology explains the process in full.

This comparison is for people who want to build an adult voice app. For that use, the order of weight is:

  1. Content rules. An app that carries adult audio needs written permission from its provider. Without it, the app can lose access to its voice engine.
  2. Cloning and consent. Cloned voices of real people are a major legal and ethical risk in voice AI.
  3. Privacy. Users of adult apps expect their audio and prompts to stay private.
  4. Voices, latency and price. These decide how good the app sounds and what it costs to run.

The pick is the service we would suggest to most developers who build an adult voice app. It is Spicy API. ElevenLabs is the stronger general voice platform, and it wins several dimensions below.

How do the two services compare, dimension by dimension?

The short answer: ElevenLabs leads on voice range, speed, languages and user reports. Spicy API leads on written adult permission and privacy. Cloning is close, with different strengths on each side.

Product type

Both are developer platforms, but they aim at different users. Spicy API is an API for adult chat, image, video and voice, all from one key and one prepaid balance. It has no consumer app. ElevenLabs is a TTS platform and API with realtime voice agents. It also has web, iOS and Android apps.

For an adult app that also needs chat or images, Spicy API puts everything behind one key. For a team that wants a general voice platform with consumer apps, ElevenLabs covers more ground.

Voices and expression

ElevenLabs leads on range. It has more than 10,000 community voices and many languages. Its v3 Conversational and v4 Turbo models support audio tags.

Spicy API offers 21 to 45 preset voices per model. Voice 2 and Voice 3 take emotion tags such as [whispers], [giggles] and [crying], which fit adult audio well. Its voice design feature is paused, so you cannot design new voices at the moment.

Live calls

ElevenLabs leads on speed. Its Flash v2.5 model has about 75 ms model latency, and it offers realtime voice agents.

Spicy API runs live calls through its spicy-live models over WebSocket. Sessions last up to 13 minutes. Streamed TTS plays its first audio in about 1.5 seconds. Spicy API’s live calls are built for adult use, but they are slower to start than ElevenLabs.

Content rules

Spicy API leads, and this is the main reason it is our pick. Its terms allow explicit adult content in writing. They ban minors, real-person likeness and non-consent in audio.

ElevenLabs’ use policy bans specific sexual content: visual explicit sex, erotic material with incest, bestiality or necrophilia, and non-consensual intimate content. Other adult audio is not on the banned list, but the policy does not address adult audio in general. It does not say it is allowed. For a business, that silence is a risk. A provider can read its own policy more strictly later, and an app has no written permission to point to.

Both services require consent, in different ways. ElevenLabs needs consent to clone living people, and its professional clones are only of your own verified voice. That verification step is the stronger check.

Spicy API needs a 10 to 20 second sample. You must attest that the voice is yours or that you hold written consent. A clone costs $0.02. This is an attestation rather than a verification, but the consent rule is clear and written.

ElevenLabs offers instant cloning from its Starter plan and professional cloning from its Creator plan at $22 a month.

Privacy and retention

Spicy API leads. Its privacy policy says it does not train on input or output, and live-call audio is not stored. There is one trade-off: the first 500 characters of each prompt are kept with the account, and prompt records are kept for 6 years after the account closes.

ElevenLabs may use content for training. You can opt out in account settings, but training is on by default. For an adult app, that default means each account owner must remember to switch it off.

Age verification

Spicy API is 18+ only, and some regions need a one-time age check before API use. ElevenLabs sets an 18+ rule in its terms but describes no verification method. Spicy API leads on this point. Its acceptable-use policy also requires apps built on it to verify that every end user is 18+, and says a self-declared age is not enough where the law requires age assurance.

User reports

ElevenLabs leads because it has a public record. On Trustpilot it has 3.0 out of 5 from 1,205 reviews. Users praise the voices and complain about billing and support. Spicy API has no public reviews, so there is no user record to judge it by.

How much does each one cost?

ElevenLabs has a free tier. Spicy API is pay-as-you-go with a low per-character price.

ElevenLabs. The free tier gives 10,000 credits a month. Starter costs $6 a month and adds instant cloning. Professional cloning starts on the Creator plan at $22 a month.

Spicy API. You top up a prepaid USD balance. TTS starts at $0.30 per 10,000 characters on Voice 1. Live calls cost about 1 to 1.5 cents a minute, and a voice clone costs $0.02. A free tier is not published.

As a worked example from the published Spicy API prices: a 100,000-character script on Voice 1 costs $3.00. A 13-minute live session, the longest allowed, costs about 13 to 20 cents. ElevenLabs prices its plans in credits, so a direct per-character comparison depends on how many credits each plan includes.

What are the main risks with each one?

Each service has a different weak point. With ElevenLabs, the risk is the policy. With Spicy API, the risk is the lack of a track record.

ElevenLabs risks. The use policy names what is banned but does not say that adult audio is allowed. An adult app built on it depends on content staying outside the banned list: no visual explicit sex, no erotic incest, bestiality or necrophilia, and no non-consensual intimate content. Training is on by default, so user content may train models until the account owner opts out. The Trustpilot record also shows complaints about billing and support, which matter when an app depends on one provider.

Spicy API risks. Spicy API has no public reviews, so there is no independent record of billing, support or uptime. Prompt records are kept for 6 years after an account closes, which is long for an adult product, even though the service does not train on them. Voice design is paused, so you are limited to the preset voices and clones. First audio on streamed TTS takes about 1.5 seconds, which users may notice in a live conversation.

Shared risks. Both providers set rules for the account holder, but the app you build is still yours to run. Spicy API makes end-user age checks your duty in its policy, and ElevenLabs describes no end-user rule at all. Either way, a consumer app needs its own age checks and its own content rules on top of the provider’s.

What should a developer check before choosing?

Read the provider’s policy against your own content plan. List the kinds of audio your app will make, and check each one against the written rules.

  • Content. With Spicy API, check your content against its bans on minors, real-person likeness and non-consent. With ElevenLabs, check it against the full banned list, and decide if you accept a policy that is silent on the rest.
  • Cloning. Decide if your users will clone voices. If so, plan how you collect consent. Spicy API needs an attestation of ownership or written consent. ElevenLabs needs consent for living people and verifies professional clones.
  • Privacy. Decide what you will tell your users about training and retention. Spicy API does not train on data. ElevenLabs trains by default unless you opt out.
  • Latency. If your app is conversational, compare about 75 ms model latency on ElevenLabs Flash v2.5 with about 1.5 seconds to first audio on Spicy API.

Where does ElevenLabs win?

ElevenLabs wins on voice quality, speed and maturity. It has more than 10,000 voices, many languages, about 75 ms latency on Flash v2.5, a free tier, consumer apps on three platforms, and a verified process for professional clones. It also has a large public review record. For a general voice product, or for adult audio that clearly sits outside its banned list, it is a strong choice.

Where does Spicy API win?

Spicy API wins on the points that matter most for an adult app. It permits explicit adult content in its terms. It does not train on input or output, and it does not store live-call audio. Its emotion tags, such as [whispers], fit adult audio, and its live sessions run up to 13 minutes. One key also covers chat, image and video. The trade-offs are slower first audio, paused voice design, a 6-year prompt record after account closure and no public reviews.

Which one should you choose?

For an adult voice app, Spicy API is our pick. It permits the content in writing, requires consent for cloning, keeps user data out of training and does not store live-call audio. Those points reduce the main risks of running an adult voice product.

Choose ElevenLabs if your app needs the widest voice range, many languages or the lowest latency, and if your content clearly stays outside its banned list. Remember to opt out of training in account settings.

If you are not a developer, neither service is the right fit. See our ranking of adult AI voice tools for DreamPress, a narrator app for adult fiction, and Kindroid (voice calls) for live companion calls.
